HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!

01 January 2010
12:15 pm

Ay, grabe, I can't believe that it's already 2010!!! What's in store for me this year?!

And here it goes.....

1. PAPAYAT AKO! - yesterday, my habibti went to their house to pay her mom a visit. Pagbalik nya, may dala-dala na syang KANKUNIS Slimming tea! "Himala!". Pero based from what I learned in Facebuk, "Beggars cannot be choosers!"

So annoying! Naks! hahaha....

2. MA-I-STRESS NA NAMAN AKO! - "Happy new year n gud luck to u ^^ n from next monday at mornin time can u teach emma&rapha?" . Text ni Ms. Christine ( she was my korean boss since January 2009. Though miles away na ang drama namin, we never stop communicating from one another.

"Okay. Thank you so much! Again, Happy New Year!" .

And voila!! May entry na ko for today!! Yeheyy...

4. KIKITA NA NAMAN ANG BAYO, BENCH, HUMAN AT MGA UKAYAN! - Naman!! Since working na naman ako by Monday, eh, meron na naman akong karapatang gumastos!! Namiss ko nga ang SM masyado,eh.. Dati kasi every Friday, eh, may attendance kami dun.

6. GAGASTOS NA NAMAN AKO SA BUWAN NG PEBRERO - natural, birthday month ko yon,eh!!! I remember last year, when I celebrated my birthday with my friends, eh, trinangkaso ako!

We're so bbbaaaaaaadddd!!!

Long playing sila mga kapatid, since yesterday morning pa sila ganyan! At naririndi na ang tenga ko sa paulit- ulit na "nobody- nobody but you!" Waaahhhh..!!

TATTOO

30 December 2009
1:30 pm

What's with tattoos that almost everyone goes gaga about it?! Personally, I'm a tattoo addict. I have three, and will still be counting if my habibti would have allowed me to have more....In fact, I even encouraged her to put my name on her right arm! O, di ba bongga?!! The picture on the right is my second tattoo. It's a triquetra, the symbol of Charmed. It is used as the cover of their Book of Shadows. Triquetra has various meanings. It is made of 3 interconnected loops and an additonal circle in or around it! This has been used as a religious symbol of things and persons that are threefold.

For centuries, humans have used tattoos for different reasons - for magical protection, to relieve pain, for vengeance and to declare victory over an enemy. Historically, tattoos were created to beautify, shock, or humiliate and they could proclaim valor, religious belief, group solidarity, or personal independence. Let's take the "Pintados" (painted ones), for example.
The Pintados are inhabitants of the Visayan islands as described by the first Spaniards to set eyes upon them. Tattoos are now part of everyday society.

According to the late Master Rapper Francis Magalona in one of his interviews, "the human body is the best canvas in the world." That's why I dont know, why there are still some individuals who look down on people having tattoos. Honestly, I have nothing against them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I also had my share of bad experiences with them. When I went to Ilocos, several years ago to celebrate Christmas with my Dad's family, everyone was shocked to see the rose tattoo at the back of my leg. My aunt, who is a principal/ teacher in one of the national schools in Ilocos, suddenly reacted and deliberately talking about the bad implications that one might have if he or she has a tattoo. I dont know, but based from what I perceived, she was associating tattoos to convicted criminals. Of course, we had an argument that day. I'm not the type who just sits down and listen when I know something's not right!

I felt bad, because of all people, my aunt who turned out to be a principal and a teacher had reacted that way. She, who was supposed to be "learned" and so called "educated" should understand and have an open mind about it. :-(

DED NA SI LOLO REVIEW < imported from Paul Ignatius' Blog>

Category: Movies
Genre: Comedy
What better way to write a review about this film than today, All Soul’s Day! I have been wanting to catch this for a long time now. Too bad I failed to do so, when it had a limited run in theaters here. A friend told me, though, that it had a 5-week run in Megamall. Anyway, bottom line is, I finally get to watch it! Just last week, actually. And what a movie it was.

As what I have stressed out before, I love watching Indie films. And this one becoming our official entry to next year’s Academy Awards made me want to see it more. Each year, I have been feeling all positive about our entries, and Ded Na Si Lolo won’t be any exception. I am just so happy how a film can really mirror our traditions and culture in a perspective where most of us can relate to. I hope the Oscar jurors would give this one a chance. I strongly believe that this movie would be a stand out from the lists of entries. Let’s cross our fingers!

The cast was amazing! Roderick Paulate, Manilyn Reynes, Gina Alajar, Elizabeth Oropesa, Dick Israel. They all made the movie a breath of fresh air. I love how they made acting seem so easy. Most of us will definitely relate to each character. It’s like I can see my aunts and uncle watching them!

I love the story’s twist at the latter part. It made me teary eyed! And most of all, what I liked is that this film discusses about family ties. That despite what happened, family is always there and the love you have for them will never change. I will definitely watch this again. A good movie that will give you a good laugh, and a realization on how unique and distinct our culture is.

Okay, to my beloved friend, na bibigyan “daw” ako ng “special” na Christmas gift this Xmas, makapagComment lang…

As you wish, eto na….

I watched “DED NA SI LOLO”, a couple of months ago. I Watched it at home thru my PC, DVD version (pirated nga lang – ganun ako kahirap!! hehehe). 8 in 1 cd. And since na isa lang ang gumagana dun sa eight, which is this movie, kaya pinagtyagaan ko na!!!! At first, akala ko, hindi ako mag-e-enjoy, kasi “blurred” yung picture ( what do you expect sa mga pirated,di ba?!), eh, I’m so bored that day, kaya, may I karir ko pa rin, kahit na MAGKANDADULING-DULING AKO SA PANUNUOD!!!hehehe.

At infairnez to him, effective pa rin syang bading!!!

Greetings!

One fulfillment of being a teacher is to see that her/his students are learning something from her/him. A teacher can only do so much for her/his students. Teaching is a two-way process. I believed that a teacher and a student should work together to achieve one common goal, which is learning. It’s a hopeless case, if only one is functioning and the other is not. I also believed that a tutor or a teacher shouldn’t be blamed for the kids’ performance in school. After all, we’re not the one who’s attending classes. And besides, they also have their respective teachers in school. Will you also blame the school teachers, if a child gets a low grade? I want to stress out, that we are only here to help the students. The students should also do their part. They should also strive hard to help themselves.

As with Sharon’s case, I believed that I did my best in teaching her. I have done my part 100%. You can check out her books and look for the exercises which I asked her to answer. I bring worksheets all the time, just to remind her of all the lessons that they took in school. As for her reading, you can also check her reading book, “A New Day”, the stories with date and star on top of the story title are the stories that we read at home. You can also ask your daughter, about my teaching style.

As a teacher, it is also frustrating to know that even though, you already gave your best shot, it feels like it still wasn’t good enough.

Sir/Ma’am, Effective today, I’m resigning from work. I believed that I did not meet your expectations. Personally, I don’t want to accept or receive any salary which is not well worth. If I immediately knew that a client or a student wasn’t satisfied from the responsibility or duty that they asked of me. I willingly quit. I know you can find a better teacher than me.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with you. It’s a pleasure.

God Bless!!!

Respectfully yours,

The letter above was a copy of my resignation letter 2 months ago. It was intended for my Korean boss. That letter also caused my career, my life and my wallet! I have no idea that handing a resignation letter would make things worst!

Here's the whole story.....

It was Thursday, October 15, the child's READING test paper was returned by her teacher. Out of 20 questions, she got 15 correct answers and 5 mistakes. As Usual, when I saw the paper, I immediately showed it to her dad who offered me an orange juice during that time. I guess her dad showed it to her mom, then all of a sudden, after a few minutes, her mom came to our study room, and her face looked disgusted upon the results of the child's test paper. As she talked to me, her face was serious and she breathed deeply as if to show me how disappointed she is. She talked to me as if she was blaming me for the results that her daughter got. She then told me that I need to practice her child with her reading comprehension. I told her, that I was indeed practicing her child to read. Actually, we already read a couple of stories from her book. I also told her to tell her daughter to listen to me, because, I found it hard to teach her daughter since she's not listening most of the time, and sometimes looses her focus in studying. I said, I cannot do it alone. Her daughter should also help her self with her studies. And if she will compare her daughter's grade before and at present, there is no doubt that her daughter improves a lot. I also told her to be "reasonable", she should not expect her daughter to get a perfect score everytime she has a test, she is only grade 1. And some english words are really difficult to understand. Even adults are having difficulties sometimes. My point is, why is she reacting that way, when actually it's only five mistakes. After all, it is not a failing grade. I also showed her the LANGUAGE result of her daughter's test and it was perfect!!! Why didn't she apprecate it? After our discussion, she went back to their room and she slammed the door loudly.

Then Friday came, October 16, I decided to resign, so I went to their house and submitted my resignation letter. I thought it was already okay, when I gave my letter to her husband. And in fact, I'm getting ready during that time to teach their daughter for the last time. I was even happy, because her daughter got a perfect score in Math! Then again, all of a sudden, she came in the room and told me, "excuse me, excuse me, can we talk?!". Then I turned to her and explained.

Yes , I might have spoken loudly that day. That is because, I'm already angry. For me, she has no right to treat me that way. And she was speaking in korean when she was talking to me. I dont think that it's polite, since I dont know how to speak Korean and cannot understand Korean language. And then, she said, " I cannot give you your salary, it's not salary day today! We are not prepared!". Then I replied, "okay, I dont need your money. I just came here to give you my resignation letter." Then, she went, "You have to sign on this paper that you are not getting your salary anymore." I am not after their money, So I signed on that paper and gave her my full name. Then she said, "Wait, i'll talk to my lawyer," then, she slammed the door again loudly. After that, I went downstairs and talk to their "ate". After a few minutes, she came down, but was already calmed. And she was explaining to me in a nice way that she was sorry, and that she misunderstood me and everything..... Then, she's handing down my salary. I said, "I'm sorry, I cannot accept that. You asked me to sign on the paper, and now you want me to get the salary? No, I can't accept it. I will not give you a chance to sue me." Then, I said goodbye, I thanked her and I even hugged her and told her that I felt sad that something like that had happened. She smiled and said, "I hope only good memories!". I dont know what she meant with those parting lines. So, I thought, when I went home everything was okay.

Saturday, October 17, I dont know why I am bothered and had that feeling that something bad might happen during that day. True enough, me, being a charmed one, my premonitons came true! Around 5pm, I received a text from a korean friend/ex-student/concern citizen informing me that there's a bad write-up about me in PHilcafe. PHILCAFE is a korean website. It is where the Koreans go to browse everything related to Philippines including teachers!

I didn't expect that she would really write something about me in philcafe. I think, it's improper to write bad things about a person, especially, if that person doesn't even have a chance to defend her self. Since Philcafe is a Korean website, I cannot write and defend my self. It's not just and fair. I think her plan was to destroy my reputation, to ruin my career and not be able to find new students. For me, it's a traitor's act. She didn't fight fairly.

" YOU CANNOT PUT A GOOD MAN DOWN!", so they say, so after a week of contemplating, I decided to work again, since there are still people/ students who still trust and believe in me. A month later, I figured out that I'm not happy working with them (koreans) anymore.... Knowing that those were also the same people who degraded me.

It saddens me that inspite of everything that I've done for them, they still took it for granted.
My efforts were never appreciated!
And since,"tutors" are home based and we are being paid for the services that we offer, they think that they have the right to manipulate us!!!

Kaya, "AYOKO NAaaaaaaHHHH!!!!"

LEARNING THE ROPES

29 December 2009
3:30 pm

Infairness to those social networks that I've mentioned above, eh, marami-rami din naman akong mga natutunan... Particularly sa Facebook, and here's the list:

FARMING 101:

1. "PLANTING RICE IS NEVER FUN" - yan ang english version ng magtanim ay di biro....
2. "TIME IS GOLD" - sa dami ng mga trabahadores, walang dapat sayanging oras!
4. "MONEY CAN'T BUY EVERYTHING" - kelangan din ng farmcash! hahaha...
5. "BEGGARS CANNOT BE CHOOSERS!" - kung kinakailangang
magmakaawa para lang i-hire ka, gawin mo!!!
6. "LOVE UR NEIGHBOR AS U LOVE URSELF" - makakatulong din sila sa pag-angat mo!

Those are the things that I've learned in Facebook, actually, marami pa, eh, kaso I'm heading to my cafe na, ready to serve na kasi yung mga niluto ko... Til next time! Chow!

GETTING STARTED

29 December 2009
around 9:00 am

Wheeew!! Finally, I had come to a decision to start blogging... Kaso, when I started reading books, such as the works of BOb Ong, Wanda Ilusyonada, Louie Cano and the likes, naisip ko... Bakit nga ba di ako mag-Blog?! Aba, eh, who knows, baka sumikat din ako?!! weeehhhhhh....

I want to start the year right (Diyos ko, tama nga ba tong desisyon ko na mag-blog?!).

"LET'S ALL GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!"
"Chow!!!" )
